About me

Hi everyone! My name is Kyle Kimler, a freshman in Keenan Hall (room 433, stop by sometime I would be pleased to meet any of y'all). I am from Houston, Texas, and am a Biology major who is hoping to double minor in Japanese and Music.

There are many reasons why I have decided to study Japanese but the most influential was the trip I made to Japan over the summer with a few friends of mine. That's me on the far left. In this picture we are at Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima island, a short ferry-ride from Hiroshima.
This is a picture of us at the fish market in Tokyo. Tuna sushi is amazing!!! But unfortunately my friends and I aren't very photogenic. My best friend, James, is actually half-Japanese and fluent in the language, and he graciously agreed to help guide us through his home country.
In short, I had the time of my life. I stayed for two and a half weeks, staying mostly in Tokyo but also traveling around the provinces for a week. We visited Hiroshima, Kurashiki, Nara, and Tokyo. I love everything about Japan; the culture, food, people, and life in general there are all amazing. At this point in my life I want to live in Tokyo, which is why I am starting Japanese right now.
